Occupational levels for Professionals – more than half (54,1%) of the professionals are equity partners, while 9,8% are salaried partners, 6,6% are senior associates, 10,7% are associates, 2.3% are consultants and 16,6% are candidate attorneys.

Population groups of professionals – the majority of professionals (65%) are white. The second largest group is Africans, who form 20,5% of all professionals, followed by Asians (9%) and coloured people (4,5%)

Gender distribution for professionals – women constitute 34% of attorneys and 55,9% of candidate attorneys.

Changing demographics – over 1500 new attorneys were admitted to practise in 2011. Of these, 56% were women and 46% were black. Of the 2032 candidate attorneys whose articles were registered between July 2011 and April 2012, 57% were women, 46% were white, 37% were black, 9% were Asian and *% were coloured.
